JC Residency - Kodaikanal
The JC Residency is a quaint hotel perched on the slope of a hill. It is a 3 star property and is only three and a half years old, started in March 2003.
The hotel's lobby and reception is a welcoming area with sofas. The reception also has a travel desk where all your travel needs are looked after. There are a total of 34 rooms categorised as 4 Deluxe rooms, 18 Super Deluxe rooms, 8 Royal Suites and 4 Honeymoon Suites. The only difference between the Deluxe and Super Deluxe rooms are that the Deluxe rooms are on ground floor level while the Super Deluxe rooms are on the first floor of the hotel with a better view.
All the rooms have wooden flooring and cable television and are done up in warm dark colours to create a cosy feeling in the cold weather. While all rooms have an intercom telephone extension, outgoing local and STD calls can be made from the reception. All the bathrooms are done in blue tiles and have fun shower curtains and a shower area. Hot water is available in the rooms between 6:00 am to 11:00 am and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
All the Suites have a separate seating area. The Honeymoon Suite has a leather sofa with a television on entering, a dining table for two with a candle stand, a sink with a marble counter and a connecting bedroom with another television and a tub in the bathroom as well.
The dining facility offered at the hotel is the restaurant called Pine & Petals, which is a multi cuisine restaurant. The timings for breakfast are from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, lunch from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm and dinner from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Breakfast is free for all in-house guests and room service is of the same timings as the restaurant.
There is a small open air amphitheatre with a place for bonfires. On special occasions, a sound system can be arranged for as well. This area is usually availed by group parties and get-togethers.
Connected to the amphitheatre is a small playground for children with swings and slides. A gym and table tennis table is also available for guests and is open 24 hours. There is a lounge area with a carom board and a television. This room is furnished with sofas and a centre table along with a table and chairs for board games. There is also a gift shop and handbag shop next to the reception, which has a selection of a variety of items. They remain open from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
The conference hall can accommodate 50 people and has a partition that can be used or removed depending on the number of guests and their requirements. This area has wooden flooring, a podium and comfortable chairs with red upholstery.
Don't Miss
The hotel offers a few treats for the kids in the form of a children's park and a bird enclosure close to the amphitheatre. The hotel has birds like ducks, turkeys and fan-tailed pigeons, which are all well looked after by a caretaker. Of course, the star attractions are the two emus that have a close resemblance to the ostrich family. Not only are these birds a delight for the children, the interest shown here can be educational too.
