Nageswaran Temple is situated in Kumbakonam district of Tamil Nadu. It is an ancient temple which designed in Chola architecture. Nageswaran Temple has a sanctum where there is a large lingam. There is a myth related with this lingam and the name of the temple. According to the belief a snake was worshipped this lingam and from then the temple was named Nageswaran. There is a beautifully designed tower in the temple which is filled with wonderful statues. From the 14th April the sun ray directly fall upon the lingam and lasts for three days. It is a unique feature of the Nageswaran Temple. During this time number of devotees comes to the temple to worship the lingam.
Nageswaran Temple is a great architecture where you can find different types of delicate designs. There are small figures of the patrons of the temple in the temple walls and all the figures are very much prominent. In the other side of the temple there are sculptures of Brahma and Ardhanariswara. Inside the temple there is also a Statue of Goddess Durga in a separate shrine.
