The Sasangir Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat was built in the year of 1965 on 18th September. Initially the sanctuary was a Forest Reserve and the main attraction of the Reserve was the Asiatic lions. The sanctuary covers almost 1,412 square kilometers of area. In the beginning the Asiatic Lions were not kept in this sanctuary. However, since 1884, the sanctuary became home to these interesting species of lions. The hilly surrounding of the Sasangir Wildlife Sanctuary, Gujarat houses various types of trees such as teak, jamun, acacia, tendu, dhak and many more trees.
There are many kinds of animals besides these lions. You will get to see chinkara, wild boar, jackal, hyena, langur, hare, black buck, porcupine ad many more species of animals. Adding to these, a huge variety of rare birds are also seen in the Sasangir Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat.
