Introduction on Ponmudi: Located 61 Km away from Trivandrum, Ponmudi is a quaint hill station in the state of Kerala. The town of Varkala being located close to Ponmudi, your sightseeing can extend to making a pilgrimage to the Janardanaswamy Temple, and even visit the famous Nature Center. The attractions within the scope of Ponmudi, aside of the sloping hills, deep valleys and quaint hillside cottages are the Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary, the Golden Valley, the Deer Park and idyllic tea-estates and spice plantations that also offer you a conducted tour. Another renowned attraction of travel to Ponmudi is the Aaranmula Boat Race. Held every year in August, it is celebrated with much fanfare in the village of Aaranmula. This boat race is an integral part of the festivities and rituals of the Aaranmula Temple Festival.
How to reach Ponmudi: Aside of the roadways, which is the most convenient way of reaching Ponmudi, you are not likely to have much problem even if you are traveling to Ponmudi by air or rail. Both airport and railway terminus are located in Trivandrum, which is no more that 61 Km off. From Trivandrum you can easily avail of buses, taxis or even auto rickshaws. Road routes to Ponmudi are available from other parts of Kerala too. |
